FEVERS BIOS
Born on the same ground as the father of rock and roll CHUCK BERRY in San Jose California are The FEVERS, putting them right on a list with the COUNT FIVE and The CHOCOLATE WATCHBAND as the descendents of Chuck.
Way back in the 90's the
FEVERS made their rock'n'roll rounds in the bay area, playing with groups like
The BOBBYTEENS, The FLAKES, and The DONNAS. Taking their influence from the
great bubblegum sound of the 60's , (such as the OHIO EXPRESS and mixing it
up with the heavier powerpop of the 70's,(like The BEAT) The FEVERS carved out
their own place in the underground scene . The fever was infectios and it was
time for the group to cut the grooves of their first platter. Entitled, The
FEVERS.....SHOW!, the record
quickly sold out copies all over the world at a record breaking pace, well at
least for Lipstick Records, Tina Lucchesi's all-star 45 label wich is home to
other great acts as CANDYGIRL, RIFF RANDELLS, and the pre-mentioned BOBBYTEENS
and FLAKES.. SHOW! was a hit but the party soon slowed down when drummer Kathy
Walker set her sights on sunny Los Angeles.
Lead singer and and bassist
Gavin May and guitarist Brian Hermosillo were only 2/3 the band they once were.
Traveling to Minneapolis MN as the bass player for The FLAKES, Hermosillo met
Travis Ramin , (the host of the FLAKES gig Rock Action 2000 and label mate as
a member of CANDYGIRL). Hermosillo explained to Ramin that the cancelation of
The FEVERS for Rock Action was due to an on going dilema of finding the right
drummer to replace Walker. Months later the the two began talking more about
the situation, and
Ramin offered himself to fill the drummer slot and Hermosillo and May accepted.
The new group immediately began preparing to make an album. The three corresponded
from California to Minnesota sending tapes to one an other, figuring out the
best tunes to record. Soon they would meet up in a freezing snowy Minneapolis
to record, Gaan Daar Waar De Meisjes Zijn, translated into Dutch , "Go
Where The Girls Are". Released on Alien Snatch Records in Germany, the
album was a pop masterpiece, with no frills just
catchy melodies and fun beats. Fantastic reviews from all over the globe poured
in , " this is what rock radio stations should be playing" and "
if teenage girls were still cool they would be screaming for The Fevers".
Upon the success of the Lp the Fevers have begun work on album two , and are
planning a Eurpean tour. Don't miss what could be the most fun you can have
listening to music! (TR)
