group vocal harmonies backed by a tough punk-y guitar sound with pop flourishes.
The songs are so catchy, you start to sing along on the first listen. The French
accents lend an extra air of coolness. Great stuff.(CK)
RAZORCAKE MAGAZIN (US) April 2022 Very lovely, very SHANGRI-LAS and RONETTES. This Paris power pop band ALVILDA serves up sunshine melodies and angelic harmonies. Clean, dreamy and not one bad thing about it. Recommended!
suspectdevicehq.blogspot.com (UK) Dec 2021 TOP TEN 2021 #3 Does it really matter if a record is Black vinyl or coloured vinyl? Sadly even though i’m well old - 105-ish, it does still matter to me. I played this 7” a million times on Bandcamp but never got the 7” as I totally missed the limited version on clear vinyl with turquoise swirl and it annoyed me. Luckily Daniel at the label sorted me out and made my year. The 4 tracK EP is pure indie pop meets girl group meets power pop. It has so much energy and joy like Dolly Mixture or Juniper Moon.(Sean)

Alvilda Vs Pogy et les Kéfars ! The Paris-Marseille kick-ass match -
a pure aural bliss - managed to keep me awake during the Reunion torpor of the
Austral winter, and for the lucky ones living on the mainland, their final face-to-face
show in Bordeaux in October should end up in a perfect draw. Two brilliant French
power-pop bands with French smart lyrics, melodic vocals and jovial choirs,
highly danceable riffs, and on the top of that, an attendance and a youth full-filled
with authenticity and sincerity ! We already talked a bit around here about
the Southern France band, but who's Alvilda?
Alvilda? A Viking
princess, who fled away an arranged marriage and led a pirate sisterhood for
the love of freedom ! The name of the band seems to stand as a strong warning
to fight some misleading appearances, because below the contagious freshness
and the sweety sound of the band - the comparison with the very best songs of
the 80's froggy girly band les Calamités (New Rose Rec., 1984) is just
staggering - the four girls aren't any pretentious braggarts : rude girls looking,
sharpies' haircuts and tattoos, working-class-zero * topics in the lyrics (
all the lyrics are included with the record and deal with broke days and daily
loose, heartaches – special mention to the Cinema song – or the
pride for their ways of life), and a huge involvement in the rebirth of the
Parisian Oi scene (Squelette, Bromure, BSC gigs' organisation..). A classy,
independent attitude with a highly rock'n'roll, feminine touch ! Wooh * !! The
4-songs Ep was released by Alien Snatch Records x, the German fav' label dedicated
to international garage punk and power-pop for more than twenty years (by the
way, Alvilda has been the first French band signed by the label since the Protokids'
Geometric Boy Ep in 2013). A Guarantee of quality ! Good job (OM)

This foursome out of Paris has just released its debut EP on the venerable Alien Snatch Records. Négatif features four tracks of classic style power pop with '60s pop and girl group influences. I love the perfect simplicity of this release: each song is a one-word title and clocks in somewhere between two and two-and-half minutes. From the melodies to the harmonies to the hooks to the energy of the music, this EP delivers everything you could want from power pop. Even if you don't know a single word of French, Négatif is sure to have you dancing around the house and humming along in no time flat. Pop music doesn't get much catchier than this! For its first 7" release in a few years, Alien Snatch sure picked a good one. Snag a copy while you still can! (Josh Rutlegde)
planetgong.fr (FRA) Oct 2021 Elles sont quatre, parisiennes et ressuscitent les fantômes des Calamités sur un premier EP fougueux à la saveur powerpop sucrée. C’est la petite sensation powerpop de cette rentrée 2021. En quatre chansons, Alvilda redonnent du baume au coeur aux amateurs de chanson pop aux contours punk. Pleines d’énergie, les chansons du groupe brillent par leur côté direct et leurs textes drolatiques emplis de punchlines amusantes. De “Negatif” (magnifique chanson de dèche qu’on se surprend régulièrement à siffler) à “Demain” (ode à la procrastination qui parlera à beaucoup d’entre nous), on sourit en coin à l’écoute de ces textes malins, on vibre au son des harmonies et on danse sur des solos de guitare à la grâce rock’n’roll. C’est sur l’excellent label allemand Alien Snatch que sort ce premier EP (mais que font nos labels indé hexagonaux ?), c’est empli de fraîcheur, de classe et de riffs qui restent dans la tête. Il faut l’avouer, on attend la suite avec impatience. Ah oui, dernière chose: merci de ne pas tenter de comparaison hasardeuse avec les Plastiscines, on vous en sera gré.
paskallarsen.blogspot.com (FRA) August 2021 Vous êtes orphelin depuis la séparation en 1988 du groupe Les Calamités ? Et bien consolez-vous avec le premier EP quatre titres du groupe parisien Alvilda, composé de quatre parisiennes, Nina, Eva, Sandra et Mélanie. Alvilda compose une musique power pop et yé-yé qui donne la banane et l’envie de prendre le large. On est dans l’esprit Fabienne Delsol/The Bristols, une pincé de Stereo Total, de Go-Go’s, de Shangri Las, The Pipettes, un soupçon noisy pop à la Shop Assistants et surtout Les Calamités, nos rênes de la nuit qui se déplacent en vélomoteur, le tout teinté de Dogs qui serait validé par le défunt label New Rose. C’est d’ailleurs étonnant que leur 45 tours soit publié sur le label allemand, Alien Snatch ! Records. On les aurait bien vus sur Born Bad ou Howlin’ Banana. Mais qu’importe, le principal est que leurs compos soit gravées sur du vinyle. Les textes sont en français, les voix sont aériennes et pop, le son est clair et … positif ! Les quatre morceaux du 45 tours EP, le format disque des années 60’s, sont toutes de qualités. Dès les premières notes, c’est le soleil printanier qui entre dans notre champ de vision, on se met à siffler et à avoir envie de prendre la douche avec sa moitié et ses amis. Avec une telle mise en bouche, vivement l’album ! Alvilda seront en concert le 21 août à Montesquiou (32) au festival « On the rock » et le 18 septembre 2021 à l’International à Paris avec Mary Bell et Bitpart.
Dangerhouse Record Shop (FRA) August 2021 Toujours du lourd pour cette rentrée, avec cette belle claque que représente le premier Ep des parisiennes d' Alvilda sur ALIEN SNATCH!.... 4 titres parfaits, d'une fraîcheur incroyable, on pense bien sûr aux Calamités, mais pas que, ce serait trop réducteur, ces morceaux cristallisent plein de trucs fascinants dans le spectre de la power pop et des girl groups.... En stock cette fin de semaine, réservez votre exemplaire, la rentrée sera plus légère.
OX #160 Feb 2022 Mit ALVILDA aus Paris kommt eine brandneue, durchwegs positive Powerpop-Band. Nina, Eva, Sandra und Melanie bedienen sich musikalisch bei ihren Landsleuten THE DOGS oder LES CALAMITÉS, auch wenn das Label sie als „French version of Belfast’s PROTEX“ bezeichnet. Egal, sind sie doch alle Garanten für schmissigen Powerpop mit Mod- oder Punk-Ansätzen und mehrstimmigem Gesang à la RONETTES. „Négativ“ an dieser EP ist nur, dass nach vier kurzen Songs mit jeweils etwas mehr als zwei Minuten leider auch schon wieder alles vorbei ist.. manierenversagen.de (GER) July 2021 Keine Ahnung, wo der Herr Alien Snatch immer diese feinen Sachen ausbuddelt, aber dieses Mal hat er sich wohl bei einem gewaltigen Regenbogen auf den Weg gemacht und an dessen Ende mit Spaten und Spitzhacke dieses Juwel zutage befördert. Alvilda aus Frankreich rühren eine hübsche Mixtur aus Power Pop und Garage der späten 60er an, den man wahrscheinlich auch schon von zahlreichen anderen Bands gehört hat, aber dessen Zauber nun einmal darin besteht, dass man nie genug davon bekommen kann. Dann also recht herzlichen Dank für den Nachschub, Alvilda. Mit dem Titel der Single wird dann wohl auch der Soundtrack für die Pandemie gefunden worden sein. Erscheint Mitte August auf Single, einen der vier Songs darf man schon einmal vorweg genießen und zumindest von Strandurlaub in einem Schloss an der Côte d’Argent träumen – 2 Minuten und 11 Sekunden. Danach heißt es wieder zurück an den Schreibtisch, ihr Faulpelze! Ça me plaît. Ich glaub, ich hab zu viele Kinderbücher gelesen. Regenbogen, Zauber, Schloss. Bin gespannt, wie ich demnächst Einhörner und die nervige Conni hier einbaue. (A)

Loro si chiamano Alvilda, vengono da Parigi e stanno per pubblicare il loro irresistibile 45 giri d’esordio sulla label tedesca Alien Snatch.(MG)
iyezine.com (ITA) Aug 2022 Vorrei essere Vittorio Gassman ne “Il Sorpasso”: un incrocio ben riuscito tra un cialtrone ed un esperto del vivere , avere Jean Louis Trintignant come compagno di viaggio e soprattutto un mangiadischi in auto per poter ascoltare questo singolo tutta l’estate mentre sfreccio per vie assolate profumate di salsedine… Power Pop solare, fresco, ma con sonorità secche e ruvide, come nel Punk è giusto che sia. Questo quartetto francese tutto declinato al femminile possiede una capacità straordinaria di far ballare ma anche rilassare e ci regala un singolo di quattro tracce veramente sorprendente. Già Négatif che, al di là del titolo (è pur sempre punk, bene non scordarselo mai), ci regala un due minuti di ballo incontenibile: Power Pop come Nikki and the Corvettes comandano, illusioni ’60’s coperte da un chitarrismo secco e pulito e una ritmica serrata; un vero e proprio gioiello per arricchire e dare un senso ai sabato pomeriggio sotto il sole, in terrazzo, mentre si legge un libro e si sorseggia un buon bianco. L’atmosfera è quindi quella giusta e le Alvilda son brave a tenerla in piedi per tutta la durata dell’EP (solo quattro pezzi, d’accordo, ma c’è chi non sa farlo anche in un singolo brano): nel brano Kylie uniscono la chitarra ritmica di Clash e Buzzcocks (quell’andamento a singhiozzo che crea tensione ed attesa) ad un’armonia vocale stupenda, solare più del sole stesso e anche quando, nel break del pezzo, il ritmo si fa più serrato, le nostre non rinunciano alla pratica melodica nella quale, in verità, si dimostrano vere maestre (anche il finale, guidato da dei fraseggi di chitarra semplici e geniali, ha un che di liberatorio e appassionante). Cinéma vanta una chitarra più satura e urticante in apertura del brano ma riesce comunque a sposarsi alla perfezione con tutte le altre componenti della traccia, dando vita a interessantissimi dialoghi armonici: un contrasto che crea solo felici intuizioni e che arricchisce il disco con una sortita inaspettata e che accende ancora di più i canali ricettori in previsione della chiusa, che altro non è se non un componimento praticamente perfetto, un pezzo pop che, salvando il salvabile dal pop, crea un pezzo Punk Rock dalla melodia, e dalla struttura, inattaccabile: Demain si risolve in due minuti di coretti puntuali come bisturi di chirurgo e soluzioni, in sede di arrangiamento, che riconciliano col mondo (anche quando il mondo non vuole riconciliarsi con te). Una tirata che delude solo perché è l’ultima composizione in scaletta; proprio ora che ci si iniziava a riscaldare bene bene e a perdere ogni freno inibitore Giro il disco, ripongo sul piatto, abbasso la puntina e ricomincio da capo: da oggi fino all’ultimo giorno d’estate.
